The renovation Sewa (voluntary service) of Gurdwara Shaheed Bunga, a memorial of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji located in the circumambulation (Parikarma) of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, was started today after the bhog (culmination) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib.

Earlier, Bhai Sukhjinder Singh, hazuri raagi of Sri Darbar Sahib connected the gathered Sangat (congregation) with Gurbani Kirtan. Ardas was offered by Bhai Sultan Singh and the holy Hukamnama was recited by additional head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana.

Sharing her views on this occasion, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur said that various monuments are present inside the premises of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, which are associated with prominent personalities of Sikh history.

“There was a long-standing demand of the Sangat for the renovation of the holy shrine of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji in the circumambulation of Sri Darbar Sahib and enshrine Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. SGPC after consulting the head granthis of Sri Harmandar Sahib decided to renovate Gurdwara Shaheed Bunga Baba Deep Singh which has been started today”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

She said that Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji has an important place in the history of Sikhs who sacrificed his life to stop the desecration of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib. She said that the sentiments of the Sangat (community) are attached to this shrine and many of them wanted to take Sewa of Sri Akhand Path Sahib here. With its renovation, the Sangat will be able to get Sri Akhand Path Sahib done here.

She said that the family of Colonel (retired) Balbir Singh Sarhali would make a financial contribution to this service being rendered by the SGPC. On this occasion, Bibi Jagir Kaur honoured Col. Balbir Singh Sarhali with the Guru’s blessing Siropao (robe of honour).

On this occasion SGPC member Mangwinder Singh Khaparkheri, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, assistant secretary media Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, OSDs to SGPC President Dr Amrik Singh Latifpur and Dr Sukhbir Singh, Superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Chhabra, Architect of Guru Nanak Dev University and the Sangat were present.
