Chandigarh-Responding to the letter written by Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit to the federal government, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema mentioned that the Governor shouldn’t speak in regards to the debt of Punjab as a result of we now have inherited the debt of three lakh crores from the earlier Akali-BJP and Congress governments.
Harpal Cheema mentioned that we now have to pay 1000’s of crores of rupees as curiosity on the debt of about Rs 3 lakh crore imposed on Punjab by the Akali-BJP and Congress governments. He mentioned {that a} letter was written to the Governor as he repeatedly writes letters to the Punjab Government. Responding to the Governor’s assertion that ‘this matter is within the Supreme Court’, Cheema mentioned that the Punjab authorities had written letters to the Central Government a number of instances to launch the RDF funds. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself has met the Union Minister and demanded this. But due to no response response from the Central Government, the Punjab Government was compelled to method the Supreme Court.
Cheema reminded the Governor that we needed to go to the Supreme Court even to name the finances session. He mentioned that if the Governor talks to the Central Government and will get the RDF funds, then the Punjab Government will withdraw its petition from the Supreme Court.
Appealing to the Governor, he mentioned that there’s a lot of hindrance within the growth work of rural areas of Punjab as a result of the central authorities shouldn’t be releasing this fund for some years now.
