The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) observed the ‘Shaheedi Diharha’ (martyrdom day) of Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Ji, the great martyr of the Sikh community, and organised a Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) with devotion at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on Friday.

After the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, the ardas (prayer) was offered by Bhai Prem Singh and the holy hukamnama was recited by Bhai Harmitar Singh, the kathawachak of Gurdwara Manji Sahib.

On this occasion Bhai Harmitar Singh shared the life history of Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh with the Sangat (devotees) and said that Bhai Mani Singh is a source of inspiration for the Sikh community.

“Bhai Mani Singh Ji accepted martyrdom for the chardi kala (rising/high spirit) of Sikh faith, but did not accept the enemy’s oppression and offer”, said Bhai Harmitar Singh.

Meanwhile, SGPC general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka and member of Dharam Prachar Committee Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi paid homage to the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Ji and urged the Sangat to acquaint their children with the life history of Bhai Mani Singh and adopt the Bani (Gurbani) and Bana (traditional Sikh attire).

On this occasion SGPC general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, secretary Mahinder Singh Ahli, additional secretary Partap Singh, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Nirvail Singh, Sukhbir Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, and others were present.
