Mohali- In a momentous achievement, Mohali Municipal Corporation has clinched the ‘state degree’ class award in Swachh Survekshan 2023, carried out by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The award was acquired by Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal at New Delhi, representing the relentless efforts of the whole municipal workforce.

Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti expressed delight within the collective dedication that led to this recognition, emphasizing that Mohali is now on the forefront amongst all districts in Punjab. The Mayor affirmed that the municipal schemes will function a mannequin for others to emulate.

The award, to be conferred by President Draupadi Murmu at Bharat Mandapam, ITPO, New Delhi on Thursday, marks a major milestone. Mayor Jeeti highlighted the municipality’s endeavors to boost cleanliness parameters, specializing in sanitation and infrastructure amenities, together with public bathrooms.

Acknowledging previous challenges, Mayor Jeeti assured that the introduction of mechanical sweeping machines for principal roads could be a game-changer, propelling Mohali to excel in Swachh Bharat Rankings on the nationwide degree. Notably, Mohali’s dedication to turning into a ‘garbage-free metropolis’ resulted in a commendable rating of ‘zero’.
