New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reached Johannesburg to attend the fifteenth BRICS summit.

“Deputy President of South Africa received the prime minister on this arrival, ” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated.

“I’m visiting the Republic of South Africa from 22-24 August 2023 on the invitation of Cyril Ramaphosa, president of South Africa, to attend the fifteenth BRICS summit being held in Johannesburg below the South African chairmanship. BRICS has been pursuing a powerful cooperation agenda throughout varied sectors.

“We value that BRICS has become a platform for discussing and deliberating on issues of concern for the entire Global South, including development imperatives and reform of the multilateral system, ” Modi stated earlier than departing for Johannesburg.

He stated that the BRICS Summit will present a helpful alternative for BRICS to determine future areas of cooperation and overview institutional growth.

After attending the BRICS Summit between August 22-24, the Prime Minister may even go to Greece on August 25.
