NEW DELHI-Expressing shock after the central authorities named two consecutive Bharat Ratna awardees, the Delhi Akali chief questioned why the best civilian honour hasn’t been bestowed upon Akali stalwart Master Tara Singh.

“We appreciate the decision to award Bharat Ratnas to former deputy PM LK Advani and the late former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur. Simultaneously, we ponder why successive governments have overlooked Master Tara Singh for this recognition, ” remarked the Panthak chief.

Sarna emphasised that it was Master Tara Singh who influenced half of Punjab and Bengal to decide on India over Pakistan through the 1947 partition.

“It was Master Tara Singh’s compelling leadership that preserved our Punjab and West Bengal. Both the Hindu and Sikh communities in these regions placed their trust in Master Tara Singh’s sincere leadership, ” said Sarna.

He expressed remorse that no central authorities has but honoured Master Tara Singh, regardless of his plain {qualifications}. “Could it be because he belongs to a smaller minority community? We wonder, ” added the Akali chief.

Sarna expressed the hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would set the document straight and announce a Bharat Ratna posthumously for Master Tara Singh as nicely.
