Amritsar: Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) Patron Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura has demanded that the Kartarpur Sahib corridor be reopened, adding that the government of Pakistan has opened the doors from their side. At present, the deadly effect of the corona is almost over and all religious places and institutions across the country have reopened.
Targeting the Center and the Punjab government, he said that the election of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the great body of Sikhs, was not being held on time under a well thought out conspiracy. These elections were held on time only after independence but after the formation of Punjabi state it was never held on time whereas all other elections are held on time by the Election Commission.
He said that the Central Government had appointed the Sikh Gurdwara Election Commission last year for the election of the SGPC but it was regrettable that the Captain Government had not provided the office and other equipment and staff to the Election Commission. The needle goes to the rulers that they have merged with the Badals who are not in favor of holding elections to the Shiromani Committee. The family owns the Sikh institution.
Mr. Brahmpura accused the Center and the Punjab Government of deliberately ignoring the demands of the farmers so that the corporate sector could flourish. The farmer of the country and Punjab has been struggling against black laws for a year. The country’s benefactor and his family are deeply involved in this struggle financially. Inflation, especially oil prices, has pushed the vast majority of the common man out of bread. The Modi government is providing immense facilities to the rich. The pro-rich central government did not provide any facilities as per its election manifesto.
The same is the case with the Punjab Congress government, which is acting unilaterally, having suffered a severe setback. He demanded a federal system for the overall development of the states.
Jathedar Brahmpura said that we had also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the Kartarpur Sahib crossing but no hearing has been held so far.
