The foundation day of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar, a body representing the Sikh community, is being celebrated on November 15, and Sri Akhand Path Sahib was commenced in this regard at Sri Akal Takht Sahib today. The inaugural prayer was offered by Bhai Prem Singh and the Hukamnama was recited by Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana, additional head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib.
SGPC media assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas said that the history of the SGPC has been full of sacrifices and it has played a vital role in uniting the community since its inception. He said a special Gurmat Samagam will be organised on November 15 at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on the occasion of foundation day of SGPC, which will be attended by head grathis, jathedars, SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur and other prominent personalities of the Panth.
Those present on the occasion of commencing Sri Akhand Path Sahib were SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna, S. Harjap Singh Sultanwind, additional secretary S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, S. Gurdial Singh, manager S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent S. Malkit Singh Beharwal, Manager S. Baghel Singh, federation leader Kanwar Charhat Singh, SGPC staff and others were present.
