A special Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) dedicated to the birth anniversary of Mata Sahib Kaur and of Majha zone under the ‘Ghar Ghar Andar Dharamsaal’ (sacred shrine within every home) campaign launched by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) was today organised at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.

During a special Amrit Sanchar Samagam held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, about one thousand persons got initiated (took Amrit) as Sikhs.

Officiating Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Granthi Singhs of Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Sultan Singh, and Giani Baljit Singh served as Panj Piaras (five beloved ones) during the Amrit Sanchar function.

After the Amrit Sanchar ceremony, all the initiated Sikhs reached Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall from Sri Akal Takht Sahib, where prominent personalities including SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur shared their Gurmat (teachings of Sikh Gurus) views in the religious congregation dedicated to the birth anniversary of Mata Sahib Kaur.

In her address, Bibi Jagir Kaur congratulated the Sikhs who got initiated and praised the pracharaks (preachers) of the SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee for organizing religious congregations in various villages, towns, and cities under the Dharam Prachar Lehar and motivating the Sangat for getting initiated.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the Dharam Prachar Lehar dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadar Ji is getting a huge response all over Punjab and the main functions of each zone would be held in the coming days. She said that today’s function of Majha Zone was dedicated to the birth anniversary of Mata Sahib Kaur.

SGPC President honoured the Panj Piaras and other prominent personalities with the Guru’s blessings Siropaos (robes of honour) on the occasion.

Those present included SGPC executive committee members S. Ajmer Singh Khera,   and S. Satwinder Singh Tohra, member S. Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, Giani Malkit Singh, Giani Prem Singh, assistant secretary S. Simarjit Singh, OSD to SGPC President Dr Amrik Singh Latifpur, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, and others.
