Patiala : Under the chairmanship of PSPCL CMD Shri A.Venu Prasad a high-level review meeting was held here today in which power situation of the Punjab was reviewed in which Er.DPS Grewal director distribution , Er.Parmjeet Singh director generation and Er.Yogesh Tandon director technical PSTCL and senior officers of PSPCL & PSTCL participated. In this meeting the situation arising out of unprecedented high-power demand due to prolonged dry spell without any sign of monsoon even in the first week of July was discussed in detailed.
CMD said that to ensure supply 8 hours scheduled power to AP consumers and uninterrupted power to other consumers in the state, various power regulatory measures imposed on the industrial consumers recently, have facilitated PSPCL to improve power supply to agriculture sector and reduction in power cuts on the domestic sector. However, with each passing day (without rains) the demand is surpassing the relief obtained by these regulatory measures.
He said that It was decided in the meeting to enhance the compulsory weekly off day imposed on the Industry in the Central, North and West Zone also. CMD also disclosed that compulsory weekly off day on Industry of the South and Border Zones will also be imposed from next week. He also added that PSPCL matter has already taken up the matter with the northern regional dispatch centre, Delhi to be pursued vigorously for the enhancement of transmission capacity allowing more import of power from outside the State immediately. It was also decided to appeal to general /commercial consumers e.g. Shopping Malls etc. for judicious use of electricity specially the AC load.
CMD A. Venu Prasad also addressed a meeting of all chief engineers and SEs.of distribution zones. In this meeting distribution arrangements for providing uninterrupted supply to the consumers, especially regular 8 hours the farmers and clearing the pendency of supply complaints were discussed.
During the meeting distribution chief engineers informed that the regulatory measures imposed by PSPCL on the industry on Thursday gave immediate relief to the power shortfall situation. Further the officers apprised that now the power availability & supply situation is quite normal with no further need of imposing power cuts and that the farmers are also getting 8 hours supply since yesterday afternoon.
CMD highlighted that maximum complaints are pending in Zirakpur, Mohali and Aggarnagar (Ludhiana) area and directed that all pending complaints should be cleared by 5 pm today.
In the meeting CMD directed the officers to monitor complaints personally through Mobile App. or 1912 monitoring portal and to ensure that all supply complaints are resolved within 2 hours of their registration. He further directed that all complaints call received on official mobile number of field officers should be attended and proper guidance should be given to the consumer for getting their complaint registered on 1912 or Nodal Complaint center of the concerned division office.
CMD Shri A.Venu Prasad also appealed to the officers to ensure that all offices under their control keep their ACs switched off. He appreciated the field officers for diligently dealing with the consumers aggrieved due to power cuts. Sh. A.Venu Prasad assured the consumers of sufficient flow of power during paddy/summer season. CMD further said that situation may improve as rains are expected this week and that henceforth no power cuts shall be imposed on any other categories of consumers
